I’ve had my z812 for about 1 1/2 years. I’ve tried AA batteries, rechargeable AA‘s, and even bought a supported KLIC-8000 rechargeable battery and charger (not the kodak brand one that is incredibly expensive). Brand new AA‘s last an average of three minutes. Rechargeable AA‘s last an average of 1 minute. The rechargeable batteries last an average of 7 minutes if charged for a few days in advance. Why is this?
Best answer about Kodak z812 IS Battery Life?
Answer by rs
The Kodak cameras shut down when their internal volt meter reads a battery voltage below a certain level. This is unfortunate because Nicads and NiMH batteries have lots of juice left in them when showing only 1.3-1.4V. My NiMH’s last a little less than 100 shots and my ebay KLIC-8000 clones last a couple hundred shots. When in movie mode, the NiMH’s last a couple of minutes and the KLIC clones last for quite a bit longer at several 10′s of minutes.
The Kodak’s are simply battery hogs, especially in movie mode so I try to do as little of that as possible and keep at least 2 sets of spares fully charged up with an external charger.
