1st September 2011 Cat: Rechargeable Battery Charger with 1 Comment

I bought a pack that came with a Duracell 15minute charger and four duracell AA and six AAA rechargeable batteries. Everything worked fine. However, the charger hasn’t been working properly with another brand name rechargeable batteries -four batteries were charged and four were not –or maybe it is batteries’ problem? My questions are:
1. The charger model is CEF15NC for NiMH batteries, and labled as: “DURACELL RECHARGEABLE ACCU”. What is “ACCU”?
2. Can I charge any Duracell rechargeable NiMH batteries (AA & AAA) with the charger? I can’t find batteries that says “for ACCU charger” (I’m thinking to buy more rechargeable batteries)
3.Do other brand names of batteries work with the charger? (The brand names and prices are so diverse online. ) What brands work?
I’d really appreciate if you share your experience and offer your suggestion regarding rechargeable batteries.
Thank you very much.

1.ACCU-might mean accumulator.I’ve bought rechargeables in germany & its called AKKUS.Firstly dont just buy rechargeable. You must note their mAh ratings. Don’t mix up batteries w/ diff ratings while charging, otherwise some gets full charge & some gets less. Newer chargers have timers that shuts itself off automatically. Therefore makers say don’t use w/ other brand. But u can! as long as they have almost same mAh ratings…I’ve mix brands too…lasting years&years.

first off NEVER use a 15 minute charger, EVER!! All they do this burn up the acid in the battery which destroys the battery over a short time period. Get a Powerex MH-C9000 analytical charger which are 55 bucks if you look around. What it will do is show how much charge is being held in the battery. Now charge it with the Maha mh-c900 charger first to get the value of how much its holding a charge. Now use and recharge them in your duracell charger about 10-15 times. than test them in the maha charger again. You’ll find that your batteries are being destroyed using the 15 minute charger. The fastest anyone ever wants to recharge a battery is 2 hours. Unless its a pulse charger like the Maha MH-C9000 is then 1 hour is fine.
