13th January 2012 Cat: Rechargeable Battery Charger with 2 Comments

The camera comes with a CRV3 non-rechargeable battery.
Kodak recommends a KLIC-8000 rechargeable for $ 30. An off-brand can be found on ebay for a fraction of that price.

I’ve heard of people using rechargeable AA batteries in cameras, though I’m not sure if they work with this one.

Lastly, if I do get the KLIC-8000, do I need a seperate charger or can I use the USB cable that is included with the camera?

You could just go to target and buy rechargeable batteries in the electronic part of target.

According to the Z712 IS manual, you can use rechargeable AA NiMH batteries. Most stores offer NiMH batteries with a charger for reasonable prices. I’d suggest picking up an extra set while you’re at it, just in case.

Do not use NiCads as they won’t last very long in this energy intensive camera.
