Hi, I just purchased a used Rebel XSi but it was missing the charger. I purchased a new LC-E5 charger and LP-E5 battery but the charger is flashing green and red instead of a solid amber. Is there a problem with this charger or the battery?

It may stop blinking once it’s fully charged. Give it an hour or two. If it’s brand new, I would let it charge over night.

The light on the charger should be red when the battery is 1st plugged in to begin charging. It will take 2- 2.5 hrs. to fully charge – at which point the light on the charger should turn green. And there should be no flashing or blinking, just steady color.
You shouldn’t see amber at all….

Look at the manual or on the charger. You’ll find a guide. Usually along the lines of three dots=fast flashing=75% or more empty. 2 dots=medium flashing=50% empty. and so on….
Faster flashing, needs more charging. Solid, all done.
